Needham is a quiet town west of Boston. The Charles River forms nearly all of the southern and northeastern boundaries, while Weston, Newton, Boston, Dover, Westwood and Dedham make up the remaining borders. It is made up of primarily single family homes.
Needham is primarily a residential town where the majority of the residents commute to work in other areas. There is a small town center and another commercial hub in Needham Heights. Needham is home to the headquarters of TripAdvisor. It also houses a small Coca-Cola bottling plant and a Trader Joe’s packaging plant.
Needham’s school system is one of the strongest in the state. It has one high school, two middle schools and five elementary schools. It is also home to Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering.
Needham has four MBTA commuter rail stops: Needham Heights, Needham Center, Hersey & Needham Junction. It can also be accessed by exits 18 and 19 off of I-95. It is also home to some wonderful parks and outdoor recreational areas, such as Cutler Park, Ridge Hill Reservation and the Needham Town Forrest.
