Wellesley is a town located due west of Boston and is bordered by Newton, Needham, Dover, Natick and Weston and has one of the highest median household and family incomes in Massachusetts. The neighborhoods of Wellesley consist of Wellesley Farms, Wellesley Hills, Wellesley Fells, Wellesley Lower Falls, Wellesley Square, Poets’ Corner, Babson Park, Overbrook and Sheridan Hills.
Most of the residences in Wellesley are Single Family homes, mixed with a few smaller condominium buildings. The town has a designated historic district on Cottage Street and its nearby alleys. Most houses in this area were built around the 1860s and qualify as protected buildings certified by the town's historic commission.
Wellesley is home to Wellesley College, Babson College and a campus of Massachusetts Bay Community College. For public transportation, it is served by three stations along the Framingham/Worcester Commuter Rail line: Wellesley Square, Wellesley Hills and Wellesley Farms. It is also very close to the Riverside and Woodlands stop of the MBTA Green Line, D Branch. Wellesley is also well known for its high quality public education system and is often ranked within the Top 10 in the State.
As a community, Wellesley works hard to be energy efficient and sustainable. They have their own Municipal Light Plant which in addition to its own generation, purchases wind power for residents who are willing to pay a premium. They have a strong recycling program and the schools recently adopted a no idling campaign for child pick-up. There is also a series of walking and biking paths that run through the town allowing residents and visitors a taste of the natural beauty of the town.
